Funeral services for Doris M. Whittington Adams, 97, of Liberty, were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2023, at Brown Funeral Home in Liberty with Brothers Erin Flemming and Dusty Rhodes officiating.
Interment followed in Jacobs Cemetery.
Visitation was held from 9 a.m., until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
She was born to Edwin McMillan and Rosie Davis McMillan on June 24, 1925, and passed away Sunday, Jan. 8, 2023, at her residence near Liberty.
Mrs. Doris worked at the Blue Bell Blue Jean plant in Natchez, the Armstrong Tire and Rubber Co., in Natchez, the Kellwood Garment Co., in Liberty and did rivet work on airplanes in Wichita, Kan., during World War ll.
She was member of Auburn Church of Christ and a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She loved her family and flowers, and enjoyed traveling and crocheting.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, J.C. “Jake” Whittington; her second husband, Percy Adams; her daughter, Betty Arnold; her son-in-law, Malcolm Arnold; her grandson, Thomas Kregg Haygood; her two sisters, Maxine Vaught and James, and Hilma Oglesby and Alton; her four brothers, Gene McMillan and Gladys, Alton McMillan and Phyllis, Roger Gray McMillan and Lanita, and Lawrence McMillan.
Survivors include her daughter, Billie Haygood and her husband, Billy; her four grandchildren, Amanda Frazier and R.L., Pam Nunnery and John, Kyle Haygood and Dana, and Kim Miller and Brad; her eight great-grandchildren, Kristina Kitchens and Brad, Ashley Hill and Jeremy, Jacey Mullins and Corey, Karlie Nunnery and Sutton, Chase Stutzman and Megan, Jake Haygood, Caitlynn Jones, and Kannon Nunnery; her nine great-great grandchildren, Kenley Mullins, Eli Olive, Kullen Kitchens, Logan Kitchens, Beau Kitchens, Caroline Kitchens, Elliot Hill, Maeson Hill and Brant Hill; and her two special friends, Catherine Jordan and Maggie Leonard.
Pallbearers were Jake Haygood, Chase Stutzman, Kannon Nunnery, Corey Mullins, Jeremy Hill and R.L. Frazier.
Honorary pallbearers were Kyle Haygood, Brad Miller, John Nunnery, Billy Haygood, Brad Kitchens and Sutton Olive.
