Franklin County unofficial election results posted

by Sean Dunlap

Franklin County voters went to the polls on Tuesday, Nov. 8 to decide races involving the U.S. House of Representatives Second Congressional District seat and several regional judicial posts along with two school board district seats and a new election commissioner for District 2.

Circuit Clerk Warren Walker, who oversees the local election process, reported voter turnout — with in-person and absentee ballots — was 45.94 percent countywide. Of Franklin County's 6,069 registered voters, 2,788 ballots were cast.

Walker confirmed there were 222 absentee ballots submitted in the election.

Affidavit ballots were not part of Tuesday night's post-election total and those would likely be addressed starting Wednesday morning by election commissioners.
