Sheriff warning residents of scam
June 19, 2025

Sheriffs Tom Tindle is warning residents of a text message scam presenting itself as being tied to law enforcement and the court system.
Tindle said residents are receiving phone messages like the one with this story. It claims the person has outstanding citations or warrants. The message has a link to click on in order to make payment.
No one should click on the link as it is a way to steal personal and financial information.
Tindle said warrants are issued and executed in person by law enforcement. Court systems don’t traditionally utilize text messages and will send out notifications by mail.
Residents are urged to not click on the link and to delete the message.
