ELLEN P. BUCKLES HARRIGILL

Jan. 20, 1937-July 8, 2024

Funeral services for Ellen P. Buckles Harrigill, 87, will be at 11 a.m.

on Thursday, July 11, 2024 from Elmo Baptist Church, with Rev. James

Hunsucker officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of

service at the church.

Born on Jan. 20, 1937 in Franklin County to Harvey Mullins Prather, Sr.,

and Hannah Elizabeth Lehmann Prather, she enjoyed gardening and was a

lifelong member and key leaders at Elmo Baptist Church. She was a

three-time breast cancer survivor and participated in local Relay for

Life events.

She was an administrator at Meadville Convalescent Home for 29 years.

She and her late husband, Jack, enjoyed traveling across America. She

was an outstanding, loving grandmother and great-grandmother and dearly

loved her family.

She died on Monday, July 8, 2024.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas Matthew and

Karen Buckles and Carey Allen and Janet Buckles; her daughter, Sara

Ellen Buckles Boykin; her sister and brother-in-law, Lucy and Alfred

Buckles; her sister-in-law and her spouse, Louise and Wease Prather; her

grandchildren, Dougl Buckles, Kendra Watson, Hannah Hunt, Kyle Temple,

April Kehm, Alyssa Buckles, Cameron Buckles, Joel Buckles and Jackson

Buckles; her great-grandchildren, Annabelle Temple, Tyler Buckles, Brody

Buckles, James Watson, Ben Watson, Laura Watson, Anna Watson and

Theodore Hunt; and a host of family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hannah Lehmann Prather and

Harvey Mullins Prather, Sr.; her husbands, Billy D. Buckles and John

"Jack" Harrigill, Jr.; her brothers, Maxie Prather and Harvey Prather,

Jr.; and her sister, Mary Ann Buckles.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Temple, Cameron Buckles, Joel Buckles, Jackson

Buckles, Doug Buckles, Thomas Watson, Ross Kehm and Tommy Hawley.

Honorary pallbearers will be he great-grandchildren: Annabelle, Tyler,

Brody, James, Ben, Anna, Laura and Theodore.

WESLEY HAWKINS

Nov. 21, 1978-July 4, 2024

Wesley Hawkins, 45, of Smithdale, died on Thursday, July 4, 2024.

Born on Nov. 21, 1978 in Natchez to Roy Hawkins and Charlotte Ann

Hawkins, he loved to cook. He was always trying new things and cooking

with his family. He owned a restaurant in Summit for more than a year,

and he enjoyed cooking and the planning of his menus. He always said he

was happiest when he was behind a big pot and a table full of

ingredients.

He loved to build and enjoyed sharing his pieces with everyone. He

built, painted and finished off many pieces. His love of working with

wood started when he was young when he worked with his dad at their

lumber yard. He later became a partner/owner with his father in the

construction business. He loved being outside.

In his spare time, he was a tinker, loving to fix all things. He was

always helping someone fix or repair something. His love for people kept

him active, even after he was diagnosed with a terminal illness.

He is survived by his parents; his daughter, Chloe White; and a host of

family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Hollis and

Earline Hawkins; his maternal grandmother, James Hall; and four uncles.
