CLARICE DIER
May 20, 1951-Dec. 24, 2023
Funeral services for Clarice Dier, 72, of Meadville, will be at 11 a.m.
on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2023 from Middleton Creek Primitive Baptist Church
in Meadville, with Elder Tom Griffin officiating. Visitation will be
from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2023 and resume from 10 a.m. until
time of service on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2023, all at the church.
Following the funeral service, interment will take place in the church
cemetery.
Born on May 20, 1951 to J.J. Wallace, Sr., and Vera Mae Grooms Wallace,
she enjoyed working in her flower beds and spending time with her
family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
She died on Sunday, Dec. 24, 2023 at her residence.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tammy Deir and Thomas
Griffin of Meadville; her son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Pam Dier of
Meadville; her brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Janet Wallace of
Meadville; her sister and brother-in-law, Sharon Wallace and Davis Smith
of Roxie; her grandchildren, Kimberly Dier Canton, Kayla Dier Byrd,
Matthew Thomas Dier, Abigail Griffin Riddle, Joshua Roan Griffin and
Rebekah Claire Griffin; and her great-grandchildren, Kyler Grace Canton,
Madeline Michelle Byrd, Magnolia Denise Byrd and Riggs Thomas Dier.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas Roan Dier;
a son, Michael Thomas Dier; her brothers, J.J. Wallace, Jr., Kenneth
Wallace and Larry Wallace; and her sister, Linda Wallace Murray.
Pallbearers will be Cody Canton, Cory Byrd, Joshua Griffin, Kenneth
Riddle, Malvin Dier and Matthew Dier.

ROBERT LEON BURRIS
Sept. 24, 1942-Dec. 18, 2023
Funeral services for Robert Leon Burris, 81, were conducted on Saturday,
Dec. 23, 2023 from Ebenezer Methodist Church.
Interment followed at the church cemetery.
Born in McCall Creek on Sept. 24, 1942 to Leon and Gladys (Arnold)
Burris, he served his country in the United States Army National Guard.
He was a true outdoorsman, enjoying the simpler things in life. Hunting
and fishing were a source of pleasure for him, especially being able to
teach his children and grandchildren how to fish. He was also a tractor
enthusiast and enjoyed bush hogging.
He was a great community leader and treasured the times he could help
any of his neighbors and friends. He was a faithful husband, father and
grandfather, and he will be greatly missed by those who loved him.
He died on Monday, Dec. 18, 2023 at UMMC in Jackson.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Janet Buris; his former wife of
30 years, Brenda Burris; his children, Tony Burris, Rebecca Vasilenko
and Teresa Chiles; his sister, Carolyn White; four grandchildren,
Kimberly, Cassie, Tony and Summer; two great-grandchildren, Abbigale and
Conner; and other loving family members and friends.
