Six Co-Lin sophomores named to Hall of Fame

WESSON — Six Copiah-Lincoln Community College outstanding sophomores, including Franklin County’s Isaac Sivils of Bude, have been named to the institution’s Hall of Fame for the 2022-2023 academic year.
Induction into this elite body is considered to be one of the highest honors that can be bestowed upon Co-Lin students each year.
Sivils serves as president of the Baptist Student Union, vice president of Research for the Eta Omega Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, and as vice president of Sigma Kappa Delta.
He is a member of the Trailblazers as well as Mu Alpha Theta.
A President’s List scholar, Sivils — who is the son of Thomas and Samantha Sivils of Bude — was selected to the Phi Theta Kappa All-Mississippi Academic Second Team, Who’s Who at Co-Lin and is the recipient of Co-Lin Foundation scholarships.
Other inductees include Akura Brown of Hazlehurst, Ty’China Byrd of Brookhaven, Larson Lewis of Wesson, Harold Rhodes III of Silver Creek and Haden Stephens of Brandon.
Brown is president of the Eta Omega Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, president of the Trailblazers, representative for the Student Government Association and secretary of Sigma Kappa Delta.
She is a member of the Council of Presidents and the Women’s Resident Council.
The recipient of several scholarships, Brown, who is the daughter of Tracy and Derek Brown of Hazlehurst, was elected as Miss Co-Lin, selected as Trailblazer of the Year and was named to the Who’s Who list.
Byrd, who is the daughter of Tamantha Byrd of Brookhaven, is president of Sigma Kappa Delta, vice president of Fellowship for the Eta Omega Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa and Blue Wave Show Band Color Guard Captain.
She is a member of the Trailblazers and Future Teachers of America.
Byrd was elected 2022 homecoming queen and was selected as a Coca-Cola Silver Scholar — one of only 50 students nationwide to receive the honor, Phi Theta Kappa All-Mississippi Academic First Team, William Winter Scholar and to Who’s Who.
Lewis serves as president of Mu Alpha Theta, vice president of Scholarship for the Eta Omega Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, and vice president of the Student Government Association.
He is a member of the Trailblazers and an active member of the Baptist Student Union.
Larson was selected to the Who’s Who list and as a campus favorite during his freshman and sophomore years.
He is the son of Amy Lewis and Russ Lewis.
Rhodes III, who is the son of Akimi and Harold Rhodes Jr., of Silver Creek, is a member of the Trailblazers and the Co-Lin Wolf Pack football team.
He was elected by his peers as Mr. Co-Lin and was the recipient of a Co-Lin Foundation scholarship.
Rhodes graduated from the college in December, 2022, and is now furthering his academic and football careers at Southern University in Baton Rouge, La.
Stephens serves as the vice president of Leadership for the Eta Omega Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, manager for the Blue Wave Show Band and representative for the Student Government Association.
He is a member of the Sojourners and Mu Alpha Theta.
Stephens was selected as a campus favorite and as a Who’s Who member.
He is the son of Ryan and Stacey Stephens of Brandon.
The hall of fame inductees will have their images included in a commemorative photo collage that will be displayed on campus.
