James Mikell Boggs

A celebration of life service for James Mikell Boggs, 61, of Summit, was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 15, 2023, at First Baptist Church of Summit with Dr. Larry LeBlanc and Dr. Trey Waldrop officiating.

Interment was in Hollywood Cemetery in McComb.

Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, April 14, 2023, and from 10 a.m., until the time of service Saturday at the church.

He was born to Gary L. and Juanita McCaskell Boggs in Jackson on Dec. 21, 1962, and passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2023.

Affectionately known to many as “Jimmy Mike,” Boggs was a 1980 graduate of Franklin County High School in Meadville.

He, along with his wife and children, lived in Franklin County until 1997 before moving to McComb.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, LaVoyce Froust Boggs; his children, Mikell’Ann Boggs and Gary Bronson “Bubba” Boggs; his granddaughters, Kaylea Wagner and Brooklyn Wagner; his uncle, Charlie Boggs, his mother-in-law, Maw Maw Bessie; his sisters, Garilyn Lunsford and Kathy Boggs-Gray and her husband, Cammie; his sisters-in-law, Bessie Faye and her husband, John, and Denise Froust; his nieces, Chasity Harrington and her husband, Scott, Katy Buckley and her husband, Leslie, Britnee Giles and her husband, Kenny, McCaskell Gray, Rebekah Gray and Hannah Smith and her husband, Brandon; his nephews, Garrith Lunsford and his wife, Jackie, Wes Jones, and Hogan Watts and his wife, Tori; along with numerous cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews.
