Betty Dyess Youngblood

Funeral services for Betty Dyess Youngblood, 86, of Meadville, were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023, at Meadville Methodist Church with the Rev. Calvin Cosnahan officiating.

Interment was in the Union Church Cemetery.

Visitation was held from 10 a.m., until the time of service on Saturday, Feb. 18 at the church.

She was born to Mr. Thaddeus Eugene Dyess and Mrs. Grace McIlwain Dyess in Laurel on March 20, 1936, and passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2023, at her residence in Meadville.

Mrs. Youngblood was a long-time member and faithfully attended Meadville Methodist Church.

She attended Jones Community College, Millsaps College and Scarritt College of Tennessee, and earned a master’s degree in Christian Education.  

She was a life-time educator, faithfully teaching the Bible and Christian values to multitudes of people.  

She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother.

Preceding her in death are her parents; her daughter, Bethany Elaine Youngblood Roberson; and her brother, Araah Eugene Dyess.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Walter Edward Youngblood; her sister, Wilma Fay Dyess Crosby; her granddaughter, Grace Elizabeth Britt and her husband, Blane; and her grandson, Michael Colten Piper.  

Pallbearers were Grady Fleming, Bubba Gabbert, Daniel Youngblood, Randy Youngblood, Colten Piper and Blane Britt.
