Jan. 22, 1950-Jan. 22, 2023

Edgar Alton Jackson was born to William P. and Daisy Arnold Jackson on Jan. 22, 1950, in Natchez, and passed away on Sunday, Jan. 22, 2023.

He was raised in Franklin County where he was affectionately known as “the Peanut Man” in the community through peddling his boiled peanuts at the football games and in Bude at Breakpoint service station.

He was also “the Gum Man” at church in always having a stick of Juicy Fruit for all the children.

Mr. Ed retired from ARI after 20-plus years and went into business with his son to form CoJack Construction LLC in 2005.

He volunteered many years at the Dixie Youth baseball fields coaching, umpiring, score keeping and anything he was asked to do — and he loved it all.

Mr. Ed loved to play softball in his younger years. In his later years, he loved to go on cruises.

He loved his sons and his grandkids, and he loved serving the Lord.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Jacqueline Jackson; and his brother, Doyle Gene “Doodle Bug” Jackson.

Mr. Ed is survived by his brother, Ronnie Dale Jackson of Kentucky; his son, Corey Jackson and his wife, Lindsey; his son, Jordan Jackson; his four grandchildren, Randi Reese Jackson, Layla Jackson, Rowan Jackson and Ryan Jackson; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to Dr. Kimberly Estes, Dr. Caleb Zumbro and Holly Walker, LPN, as well as the staff at Family Medical Group and Franklin County Memorial Hospital in Meadville for the excellent care throughout the years; and to Meadville Convalescent Home for their care at the end.

A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023, at the First Baptist Church of Bude.
