Funeral services for Joseph D. Norris, 85, of McComb, were held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Nov. 4, 2022, at New Heights Baptist Church in Summit with Brother Joseph Ingram officiating.

Interment was in Pike Memorial Gardens in McComb.

Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 3, 2022, at Hartman-Jones Funeral Home in McComb and from 9 a.m., until the time of service on Friday, Nov. 4 at the church.

Affectionately known as “Uncle Joe” or just “Joe,” he was born to James August and Betty Elizabeth (Smith) Norris on Oct. 23, 1937, in Meadville, and passed away at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2022.

He served in the United States Army as a field medic during the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife and sweetheart of 48 years, Annette (Maloch) Norris; his daughter, Robyn (Norris) Matthis; his granddaughter, Victoria Neely; his great-grandson, Bode Neely; and his brothers, John Norris, James Norris, Jesse Norris, Julius Norris, Lonnie Norris and Jimmy Norris.

Survivors include his two sons, Joseph D. (Jay) Norris Jr., (Doug Fillmore) of Portland, Maine, and Daniel E. Norris (Karen) of Bay St. Louis; his brothers, Jerrel Norris (Lorraine) of Sydney, Australia, Jacob Norris (Martha) of Marrero, La., and Jerry Norris of Hammond, La.; his sister, Bettie Jean (Norris) Clark of Brandon; two grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
