Funeral services for Pauline Thornton, 80, of Meadville, were held at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2022, at Franklin Funeral Home in Meadville with the Rev. Travis Touchstone officiating.
Interment was in Franklin County’s Midway Cemetery.
Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2022, and from 1:30 p.m., untill the time of service on Wednesday, Oct. 26 at the funeral home.
She was born to Samuel Earnest and Pernie Elizabeth Freeman Arnold on Dec. 26, 1941, in Adams County, and passed away on Monday, Oct. 24, 2022, at Franklin County Memorial Hospital in Meadville.
She enjoyed family get-togethers, cooking for everyone, hunting and fishing with her siblings and spending time with her grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were parents; her son, Herbert Noel “Bubbie” Thornton Jr..; her sisters, Ernestine Cater, Christine Arnold and Eddie V. Myers; and her brothers, B.J. Arnold, Robert Arnold, Rodney Arnold, June Arnold, R.B. Arnold and Roddis Arnold.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Herbert Thornton; her sons, Larry Thornton and his wife, Julie, of Ringgold, Ga., and Gary Thornton and his wife, Angela, of Brookhaven; her brother, Roger Dale Arnold and his wife, Sarah, of Smithdale; her grandchildren, Cassie, Burt, Krystle, Garrett (Rachel), Travis, Olivia and Zach; her great-grandchildren, Bella, Elyse, Addie Grace, Colt and Bryson, who due in December; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and other family members.
Pallbearers were Earnest Arnold III, Samuel Arnold, Randy Arnold, Carol James Cater, Jerry Ivey, Bobby McCartney and Robert Lynn Thornton.
Honorary pallbearers were Allen Arnold, Vernon Arnold, James McCartney, Rayford Miller and Dalton Wayne.
Special honorary pallbearers were Burt Thornton, Garrett Thornton, Travis Thornton, and Zach Thornton.
The family request donations be made in Mrs. Thornton’s memory to the Midway Cemetery in Meadville.
