Franklin County JV hoopsters open 2021-22 campaign

Franklin County High School’s junior varsity basketball teams have played two games each thus far this season — with the JV boys holding a 1-0-1 record and the JV girls sitting at 0-2 overall.

JV BOYS

FC 35, LOYD STAR 30

Jailen Hunt helped pace Franklin County to a 35-30 road win over Loyd Star Thursday, Nov. 18.

Va’Quez Rancifer chipped in seven points while teammates Bradley Washington, Re’Shon Baker and Jaiden Hunt recorded five each.

Ladanian Pelt finished the night with two points and Tyler Walton added one.

Loyd Star outscored FC 25-20 in the first 16 minutes of the game, but the Bulldogs charged back with a 15-5 run in the second half to gain the victory.

Franklin County finished the night with a 5-of-16 performance from the free-throw line.

Loyd Star’s Nathan Mills led all scorers with 18 points in the Hornets’ loss while Xavier Vaughn added five and Kayne Case scored four.

The host team was 5-of-7 from the charity stripe against FC.

FC 27, NORTH PIKE 27

The JV Bulldogs and Jaguars battled to a 27-all tie at the end of regulation two weeks ago.

Hunt and Washington had six points apiece for the Bulldogs while teammates Jaquavious Norman and Rancifer finished with four each.

Christian Goins accounted for three points as Pelt and Baker added two each in the tie.

The Dawgs finished 0-of-4 with their free throw attempts and the Jaguars finished 5-of-11 from the line.

JV GIRLS

NORTH PIKE 24, FC 12

On Thursday, Nov. 4, Franklin County’s JV girls played host to North Pike and came up on the short end of a 24-12 decision.

FC’s Raine Edmond led the Lady Dawgs with five points as teammates Ariel Williams, Tea Faust and Jailyn Johnson each added two.

Alandra Williams ended her night with a single point.

FC shot 6-of-13 from the line in the outing while North Pike was 6-of-11 in free throws.

The Lady Jaguars’ Amon Barnes led with eight points.

LOYD STAR 12, FC 10

FC’s JV girls opened their 2021 campaign at home Tuesday, Nov. 2 with a 12-10 loss to Loyd Star.

Ariel Williams had four points for the Lady Bulldogs with Johnson contributing three, Jessany Harness had two and Amillyon Harris finished with one.

FC was 8-of-21 from the stripe and the Lady Hornets were 1-of-4.

CeCe Furnace led Loyd Star with a four-point performance with Atleigh Anding finishing with three in the win.
