Funeral services for Al Jessie Byrd, 88, of Bude, will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 22, 2022, at Sweet Home Baptist Church in Bude with Pastor Joseph R. Washington Jr., officiating.

Interment will be at Byrd Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, July 21, 2022, at the Lighthouse Center, 19 Franklin Street in Meadville, with masks required and social distancing being practiced.

Visitation will continue from 10 a.m., until the time of service on Friday, July 22 at Sweet Home Baptist Church.

Mr. Byrd was born to Fairbanks Byrd and Hattie Mae Anderson Byrd on Dec. 27, 1933, in Franklin County’s Kirby community and was the fifth of nine children.

He passed away on Friday, July 15, 2022.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; Eloyce Holloway Byrd; his daughter; Evelyn Griffith Marshall; and six siblings, Willie Harvey Byrd, Mattie Belle Byrd, John Malcolmson Byrd, Dessie Lee Byrd Reed, Cora Lee Byrd and Elmo Byrd.

Survivors include his daughter, Linda Washington, and her husband, Pastor Joseph Washington Jr.; his three sons; James M. Griffith, Thomas J. Griffith and his wife, Patsy, and John W. Griffith; his son-in-law, August Marshall; his sister, Claudia B. Pickett.; his brother; Thomas C. Byrd and his wife, Diane; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
