Funeral services for Neola Moore Thornton, 96, a resident of McComb Nursing and Rehab and formerly of Smithdale, will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, June 23, 2022, at Hartman-Jones Funeral Home in McComb with the Rev. Leon Wallace officiating.

Interment will be in the Mount Olive Cemetery in Smithdale.

Visitation will be held from noon until the time of service on Thursday, June 23 at the funeral home.

She was born to Howard Edgar Moore and Maybell Moore on Dec. 11, 1925, in Lincoln, County, and passed away on Monday, June 20, 2022.

She was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, and owned and operated Neola’s Fabrics and Sears in Bude for many years.
She also enjoyed her time with the Homemakers Club in Franklin County.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marvin Lee Thornton; her siblings, Howard Moore, Junior Moore, Marie Mulford, Bernice Cotten and Yvonne Myers; and a grandson, Brett Sessions.

Survivors include her children, Brenda T. Netterville and Floyd of Smithdale, Regena T. Compton and Jerry of Smithdale, Denise T. Wentworth and Forrest of Wetumpka, Ala., and Connie T. Sessions and Lee of Wetumpka, Ala.; six grandchildren, Flint Welch, Amanda Welch, Cliff Wentworth (Amanda), Brandon Wentworth (Robyn) and Alexandria Sessions; five great-grandchildren, Kaylee Wentworth, Cassie Wentworth, Jack Wentworth, Eliza Wentworth and Shiloh Wentworth; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
