Funeral services for Betty Sue Nettles, 88, of Purvis, were conducted on
Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026 from Little Black Creek Baptist Church.

Interment followed at Coal Town Cemetery.
Born on Jan. 21, 1938, she was Postmaster at Lake Saint John in
Ferriday, La. She was Salutatorian in her senior class of 1954 and Miss
Franklin County in 1954. She was a member of the Baptist faith. Her
hobbies were camping, gardening and sewing.

She died at her son's home in Lumberton on Monday, Feb. 9, 2026.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth Lamar and
Linda Nettles of Gulf Shores, Ala., and Paul Eugene and Jane Nettles of
Lumberton; a sister and brother-in-law, Bobbie S. and Elbert Smith of
Brandon; seven grandchildren and their respective spouses, Jordan and
Annie Nettles, Jessie Nettles, Shane Nettles, Chase Nettles, Ethan
Nettles, Stephanie Wallace and Kristen Summer Wallace; six
great-grandchildren, Carsen Ludolph, Londyn Ludolph, Eli Nettles, Briggs
Nettles, Harper Hilderbrand and Caleb Berry; her best friend, Alice
Stillion and many nieces, nephews and special friends in her Bunko Club,
along with many camping friends.
