Portion of Union Church Road to close starting Thursday, April 28

The Franklin County Board of Supervisors has confirmed plans to close a portion of Union Church Road at the railroad tracks near Meadville beginning Thursday, April 28.

The announcement came mid-afternoon on Wednesday, April 27.

The closure, which will become effective at 9 a.m., Thursday is necessary to complete the replacement of asphalt near the at-grade rail crossing that was repaired several months ago.

The initial crossing work required the removal of existing pavement and has since been covered in rock to allow for settling before the asphalt was replaced.

Supervisors did not indicate an estimated time for the work to be completed, but they did encourage those traveling through the area to take alternate routes as no thru traffic will be permitted during the duration of the construction.
