Funeral services for Billy Gene Lee, 87, of Georgia and formerly of Franklin County, were held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at McCullough Funeral Home in Warner Robins, Ga.

Interment was in the Magnolia Park Mausoleum in Warner Robins, Ga.

Visitation was held from 1 p.m., until the time of service on Wednesday, April 13 at the funeral home.

Mr. Lee was born to Andrew C. Lee and Matilda Robertson Lee in rural Franklin County on Dec. 30, 1934, and was the sixth of nine children in the family.

He passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2022.

He was a 1953 honors graduate of Meadville High School, served in the United States Air Force and had a lengthy career in education in Georgia.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Mary Elon Faircloth Lee; his parents; his four brothers; Clyde, Thomas, Oliver and Curtis; and his sister, Clara Lee Surratt.

Survivors include his daughter, Mary Elizabeth Lee Cipolla and her husband, Michael, of Warner Robins, Ga.; and his son, retired Air Force Lt. Col. Gene Carey Lee and his wife, Karol, of Kathleen, Ga.; his grandsons, Kevin Lee Cipolla of Warner Robins, Ga., and Greer Andrew Lee of Kathleen, Ga.; his granddaughter, Caroline Rachel Lee of Kathleen, Ga.; two sisters; Gaye Lee Metcalf (Jerry) of Vero Beach, Fla., and Faye Lee Smith of Brookhaven; one brother, Earl W. Lee of Petal; three sisters-in-law; Elizabeth Lee, Glyna Lee and Glendell Lee of Mississippi.
