Funeral services for Joseph Shannon Brocato, 50, of Smithdale, were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 16, 2022, at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Smithdale with the Rev. Brandon Lynch and the Rev. Marvin Howard officiating.

Interment followed in the Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation was held from noon until the time of service on Saturday, April 16 at the church.

Mr. Brocato was born to Joe Peter Brocato and Peggy Laird Brocato on Oct. 21, 1971, in Cleveland and passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2022.

He had a deep love for his family and friends, and was an avid outdoorsman and hunter of all game.

He was a loving son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend.

Preceding him in death were his father; his niece, Ashlee Paige Holland; his uncles, John Madison Laird Jr., and Tony Brocato; his aunt, Patricia Brocato Wimberly; and his grandparents, John and Mildred Laird, and Frank and Marie Brocato.

Survivors include his mother, Peggy Laird Brocato; his daughter, Anna Grace Babin, and husband, Steven; his son, Joseph Timothy Brocato; his two grandchildren, Macen and Blair Babin; his brother, Brad Brocato, and wife, Rachel; his sister, Scarlett Holland, and husband, Paige; his nephews, Reese and John Braden Brocato; his nieces, Olivia and Leeanna Holland, and Carleigh Gail Brocato; his great-niece, Baby Brocato (due in September); and a host of family members and friends.

Pallbearers were Paige Holland/Joseph Brocato, Reese Brocato/John Braden Brocato, Shelly Cowart, Dusty Rollinson/Donnie Rollinson, Chris Allen, Brad Thornton, Eric Gage and Lance Fudickar.

Honorary pallbearers were the members of International Brotherhood of Boiler Makers Local 37.

The family suggests memorials be made in Mr. Brocato’s name to Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital in Jackson.
