RODNEY "BOOTS" MARSHALL
March 21, 1937-Nov. 20, 2024
Funeral services for Rodney "Boots" Marshall, 87, of McCall Creek, were
conducted on Friday, Nov. 22, 2024 from the Chapel of Franklin Funeral
Home, with Rev. Tony Mullins officiating.
Interment followed at Sarepta Baptist Church Cemetery in Meadville.
Born on March 21, 1937 in Franklin County to Raz Marshall and Etta Marie
Marshall, he was a retired Logging Contractor and Tree Farmer who knew
and loved the woods. Back in the day, he was an avid hunter, leading
many successful deer hunts in and around his property, never resting
until all his dogs were home or accounted for.
There were many times during freezing temperatures after a hunt --- at
the point the dogs were released --- he would pull of his warm coat and
leave it on the ground for the dogs to lay on until they were picked up.
He died on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2024 at Southwest Regional Medical Center
in McComb.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kala Marshall and Chuck
Delaney; his grandchildren and their respective spouses, Brittany and
Doug Wallace and Brandon and Kelsey Campbell; his great-grandchildren,
Jacob Wallace, Hayden Campbell, Hailey Campbell and Grayson Campbell;
his sister, Vivian Marshall Runnels and a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raz and Etta Marshall; his
nephews, Gary Runnels and Steve Runnels; his great-niece, Brandi
Runnels; and his brother, Charles Marshall.
Pallbearers were Brandon Campbell, Charles Roy Delaney, Jr., Wayne
Matthews, Vince Woodcock, Stewart Wentworth and Travis Touchstone.
Honorary pallbearers were Jacob Wallace and Hayden Campbell.
