BILLY RAY TANNER
June 11, 1955-June 18, 2024
Memorial services for Billy Ray Tanner, 69, of Natchez, will be
conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2024 from First Baptist
Church in Natchez, with Dr. Doug Broome and Rev. Jeff Brewer
officiating. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, June 29,
2024 from First Baptist Church of Natchez.
Born on June 11, 1955 in Haynesville, La., he was the son of James
Claude Tanner and Lela LuCity Noles Tanner. He was many things to many
people. He was a husband, father, friend, confidant and so much more. He
was known for his quick wit and fun, loving attitude, and man could he
cook.
Billy was a member of First Baptist Church. He worked in the oilfield
--- from work over to sales --- for most of his life. After retiring, he
picked up making knives. He loved hunting, fishing and spending time
with family. Many can attest that his finest talent was giving and
serving others.
He died on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 in McComb.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary Elizabeth Young Tanner; his
son, Bradley Tanner and cherished Shiva and Uma Vailia; his brother and
sister-in-law, J.D. and Ruth Tanner; his sister and brother-in-law,
Gloria and William Bonds; and a host of nieces, nephews and many close
friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Claude Tanner; his mother,
Lela LuCity Tanner; his brother, James Douglas Tanner; and his sisters,
Betty Woolwine and Glenda Bennifield.
