SAM F. OSBORNE
Oct. 15, 1941-Feb. 10, 2024
Funeral services for Sam F. Osborne, 82, of Fayette, were conducted on
Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2024 from Sarepta Baptist Church in Meadville, with
Rev. Steve Sasser and Rev. Eric Moak officiating.
Interment followed at Sarepta Baptist Church Cemetery.
Born in Jefferson County on Oct. 15, 1941 to Sam S. Osborne and Madie
Lee Cupit Osborne, he enjoyed watching football, hunting, fishing and
loved eating Blue Bell ice cream. He was well known for his one-liners.
He proudly served our nation in the United States Navy and faithfully
attended Sarepta Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, brother,
stepfather, grandfather, uncle and friend.
He died on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024 at Franklin County Memorial Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Childers Osborne; his stepdaughter,
Tammy Renee Thompson of Roxie; his stepson and his spouse, Jerry "Sonny"
and Cathy Thompson, Jr., of Roxie; his brother and sister-in-law, Herman
and Linda Osborne; his sisters and brother-in-law, Verna Osborne and
Dale Smith and Lloyd Deane Osborne Smith; his grandchildren and their
respective spouses, Heather and Jess Havard of Natchitoches, La., Cade
and Erica Havard of Roxie, Shelby and Dylon Jones of Lubbock, Texas,
Trey and Star Thompson of Loyd Star and Christopher Thompson of Roxie;
his great-grandchildren, Millie Jones, Haylan Jones, Daxton Lambert,
Rylee Havard, Stella Thompson, Hensley Thompson and Addie Thompson; and
a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Madie Lee Cupit
Osborne; his brother and sister-in-law, Phillip and Mary Osborne; his
sister and brother-in-law, Ruth Osborne and Laverne Henley; and his
brother-in-law, Mike Smith.
Pallbearers were Trey Thompson, Rodney Henley, Cade Havard, Matt Smith,
Bill Arnold and Jimmy Goldiron. Honorary pallbearers were Jimmy Buie,
Hugh McCaa, Billy King, Butch Emfinger and Larry Teekle.
