Bulldogs, Lady Bulldogs fall in tourney semifinals

PORT GIBSON — Both basketball teams at Franklin County High School dropped tough games Thursday night in the District 7-3A Tournament. Even with the losses, though, both squads have qualified for the Class 3A playoffs.

The girls team fell to host Port Gibson by a heartbreaking 27-24 margin. The loss dropped FCHS To 6-18 on the year heading into Friday night's 4 p.m. consolation game against Wesson. The winner of the game will be a No. 3 seed in the first round of the playoffs while the loser will be the No. 4 seed. Either way, both teams will travel for first-round contests.

The boys dropped a 59-35 decision to the Blue Waves in the final game of Thursday night's tournament action. The Bulldogs will now face South Pike in a 5:30 p.m. consolation game Friday night. The winner will be a No. 3 seed while the loser will be a No. 4 seed, with both teams traveling next week.
