Soccer squads both advance to state quarterfinals

Franklin County High School's soccer teams both advanced to the quarterfinals of the Class 1 playoffs with road wins Tuesday night.

The Dawgs fought off a tough Pelahatchie squad, taking a 4-3 win to advance to the third round of postseason action. FC now prepares for a Saturday contest against St. Stanislaus, a 7-0 winner over Wesson Tuesday night. That contest is tentative scheduled for 5 p.m.

The Lady Dawgs also picked up a hard-fought victory, topping McLaurin by a 2-1 margin. FC now prepares for a 5 p.m. Saturday match against St. Patrick, a 7-0 winner over Clarkdale on Tuesday.
