Basketball teams advance in district tournament

Both the boys and girls teams from FCHS advanced in the 7-3A District Basketball Tournament with wins Tuesday night.

The Bulldogs beat Wesson, 67-42, and now advance to a semifinal game against host Port Gibson. That contest is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

On the girls side, the Lady Bulldogs beat Jefferson County, 27-23, to advance to a 4 p.m. semifinal game against host Port Gibson on Thursday.

Both teams also earned spots in the Class 3A playoffs with Tuesday night's victories.

Winners from Thursday's games will play in the championship game while losers will square off in a third-place game. The girls consolation game will be at 4 p.m. Friday, followed by the boys consolation game at 5:30 p.m. The girls championship game is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday while the boys title contest is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. Friday.
