FCMH announces vaccine clinics

With coronavirus infections continuing to break records locally, Franklin County Memorial Hospital and its Family Medical Group Clinics have announced plans for a series of community vaccination events beginning this week.
Vaccines and boosters will be available to the public from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 27 on the frontage road in front of Bude Baptist Church.
At Thursday’s mobile clinic, the Pfizer inoculation for those ages 5 and over and the Moderna vaccine for those ages 18 and up will be available along with boosters.
The federal Centers for Disease Control have issued the following guidelines for COVID-19 booster shots:
• For those ages 12 and older who have received both Pfizer vaccine or 18 and older who have taken the Moderna shot, a booster is recommended at least five months afterwards.
Those taking part in Thursday’s vaccination event will need to bring their COVID-19 vaccination card along with a photo identification.
In conjunction with this week’s clinic offering, AJFC Community Action Agency staffers will be onsite to distribute up to $100 in gift certificates for those receiving their first or second doses of the coronavirus vaccines.
Other planned FCMH and Family Medical Group vaccine clinics to be staged in Franklin County will be held:
• 1 to 3 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 3 at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Smithdale.
• 1 to 3 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 17 in the Roxie Town Square.
• 1 to 3 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 24 at the Bude Community Center (former Bude United Methodist Church).
Those with questions about FCMH’s shot and booster programs can call 601-384-3199.
