JANNIE LEE HICKINGBOTTOM KING
June 21, 1944-Sept. 5, 2023
Funeral services for Jannie Lee Hickingbottom King, 78, were conducted
on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023 from the Light House Center in Meadville,
with Rev. Luther Bonds officiating and Donna Jones serving as Mistress
of Ceremonies.
Born on June 21, 1944 to the late Rufus Hickingbottom and Lula Mae King,
in 1960 she was joined in marriage to the late Charles Edward King.
Jannie professed her devotion to Christ at an early age and later became
a member of Roxie First Baptist Church. She loved to cook, bake and feed
others. Her love of cooking and feeding the community led so many to her
doorstep.
Anyone who knew Jannie Lee knew she didn't play about her New Orleans
Saints!
She died on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2023.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Willie and Joyce King,
Sr.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Ella Mae and Arthur Middleton, Jr.,
and Glenda King; 36 grandchildren and their respective spouses, Victoria
Gibson, Alicia Brown, Paris White, Marcus White, Karen and Roy O'Neal,
DeAnthony King, Latonya and Larry Hall, Tashaka King, Darren King,
Thomas McCoy, Leon Causey, Raymond King, Derrick Starks, Kendrick King,
Tancsha King, Jeremy King, Aletra King, Lil Arthur Middleton, Jamichael
Middleton, Corey and Dana King, James and Nikkie King, Billy Ray Hunt,
Nick and Angelisa King, Demetric Hunt, Glen King, Mildred King, Isaiah
King, Alvin King, Wayne Thompson, Jeremiah Cullen, Jasmine Cullen, James
Cullen and Joshua Cullen; 113 great-grandchildren and counting; two
sisters, Maggie Anderson and Shirley Porter; two brothers and a
sister-in-law, Andrew King and James and Brenda King, Sr.; and a host of
nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends and a multitude who
considered her a grandmother.
Marshall Funeral Home of Bude was in charge of arrangements.
