Prayer services for Barnett Ratcliff, 87, of Gulfport, will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022, at Riemann Family Funeral Home in Long Beach.

Interment will follow in Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held from noon until 2 p.m., at the funeral home in Long Beach.

Mr. Ratcliff, who worked 42 years for the railroad, served as alderman for the City of Long Beach and worked for Riemann Family Funeral Homes, was born to Lane and Almeda Ratcliff in Franklin County on Sept. 28, 1934, and passed away peacefully at home with his family on Monday, Dec. 27, 2021.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Elmo Ratcliff, Boyce Ratcliff, Lantis Ratcliff and Lesley Hill Ratcliff; and his sisters, Lorella Pickett, Elaine Laird and Irene Beach.

Survivors include the love of his life and companion of 26 years, Sylvia Welch; his children, Bridget May and Johnny of Beaumont, Texas, Steve Ratcliff of Nederland, Texas, Gary Ratcliff and his wife, Dawn, of Port Neches, Texas, and Chris Ratcliff and his wife, Kelli, of Biloxi; his grandchildren, Austin, Chase and wife Ashleigh, Brandon and wife Taylor, Taylor and wife Jaclyn, Graeson and McKenna, Casey, Alex and husband Justin, Zak, Laura, Sara, Warren, Brittany and husband Chris, and Hunter Welch;11 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, R.L. Welch, and Mark Welch and his wife, Patricia.
