Franklin County’s hunting, fishing and outdoors enthusiasts should circle the weekend of Feb. 11-13 on their calendars for the spring edition of the Mississippi Ag and Outdoor Expo.

The three-day event will be held at the new Mississippi Trade Mart building at 1207 Mississippi St., in Jackson and will help kick-off this year’s Dixie Nationals Livestock Show and Rodeo held at the neighboring state fairgrounds.

“The 110,000-square-foot Trade Mart building, which includes 63,000 square feet of exhibit space, will be packed with displays of things like rods and reels, bows, ATVs and UTVs, tractors, farm equipment and power equipment,” Mississippi Commissioner of Agriculture Andy Gipson said in announcing the event.

“There will also be displays of hunting products and services, including things like guides and outfitters. If you can imagine it, there will probably be a vendor there for you to visit. The Mississippi Ag and Outdoor Expo is the largest display of everything for the outdoors in our state.”

The expo is hosted by The Foundation for Mississippi Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, produced by Great Southern Expos and is presented by Southern AgCredit.

Plans call for the program to be held from noon until 7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 11; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 12; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 13.

Daily admission for the event is $12 for adults, $6 for youth ages 6 to 15 and no charge for children ages 5 and below.

The special spring edition of the expo will be the first of two such events planned during 2022 — with the fall gathering planned for the weekend of Friday, Aug. 5 through Sunday, Aug. 7 at the Trade Mart.
