Funeral services for Henry H. Johnson, 86, of Smithdale, were held at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 25, 2023, at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Smithdale with the Rev. Jack Whittington officiating.

Interment was in the church cemetery.

Visitation was held at 5 p.m., Wednesday, May 24, 2023, and from 9 a.m., until the time of service on Thursday, May 25 at the church.

He was born to Luther and Eula Mae Rogers Johnson on Sept. 20, 1936, and passed away at his residence while surrounded by his loving family on Monday, May 22, 2023.

He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War, was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church and was a machinist by trade.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Clayton Buster Lofton; his daughter, Martha Ann Johnson; his brother, Marvin Johnson; his sister, Evelyn Dykes; and his brother in-law, Harry Dykes. 

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Julia Ann McClelland Johnson; his two sons, Henry Lee Johnson (Tanya) and Edward Earl Johnson (Glenda); his seven grandchildren, Lorie Wilson (Trevon Minor), James Johnson (Brittany), Amanda Nations (Wayne), Kari Johnson, Klint Johnson, Daniel Johnson and Kalli Johnson; his seven great-grandchildren, Katylin Wilson, Harley Wilson, Skylar Sutton, Peyton Johnson, Rayna Nations, Mollie Nations and Karter Mullins; his daughter in-law, Pat Lofton; his sister in-law, Anna Mae Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
