United Mississippi Bank has announced plans to host a pair of regional “Money Smart for Older Adults” programs during June.

“This outreach seeks to raise awareness among older adults and their caregivers on a wide range of topics, including how to prevent fraud, scams and other financial exploitation,” Lisa Whittington, a UMB auditor and program facilitator, said.
“The curriculum, which is offered at no charge to the community, encourages advanced planning and informed financial decision-making.”

The courses will be offered at the following locations:
• Wednesday, June 21 — in Jefferson County at the Fayette Library at 1269 Main Street beginning at 10 a.m.

• Tuesday, June 27 — in Franklin County at the Bude Town Hall (in the former Bude Library) at 125 W. Railroad Ave.

Seating for the sessions is limited and those planning to attend are asked to pre-register by contacting Whittington at 844-862-4862 or at 601-445-7000, extension No. 7185.
The bank is offering the program in conjunction with marking its 50th year in business.
