Funeral services for Georgie Lorena Frazier Byrd, 80 of Liberty’s Brookside community, were held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at Thompson Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Bradford, Dr. David Millican and the Rev. Rob Westbrook officiating.

Interment was in Nunnery Cemetery near Liberty.

Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 16, 2023, and from 9 a.m., until the time of service on Wednesday, May 17 at the church.

She was born to Wiley Dewitt Frazier and Margaret Carruth Frazier on Feb. 19, 1943, in Gillsburg, and passed away peacefully at her home following a lengthy illness on Friday, May 12, 2023, while surrounded by family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Marshall Larry Frazier; and her grandparents.

Survivors include her husband of almost 60 years, Ronald E. Byrd; her four children, Rhonda Byrd Touchstone (Steven Eric) of Liberty, Ronald Wayne Byrd (Anna Foster) of Summit, Robert Wiley Byrd of McComb and Russell William Byrd (Libby Prestridge) of Osyka; her 11 grandchildren; her eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Byrd and her husband owned and operated Amite River Fish Industries and Brookside Catfish Farms in Southwest Mississippi for more than 50 years.
